South Korean pop mega band "BTS" will perform military service
The members of the South Korean band BTS announced their intention to perform compulsory military service, ending the controversy in Korea over their exemption because of their artistic achievements.
The company that ran their businesses said in a statement in several languages that BTS members will perform their mandatory military duties under South Korean law.
This step will lead to their absence from the art scene as a single group until 2025, according to the company.
The company confirmed that Jane, the band's oldest member, will cancel his enlistment deferment request at the end of the month and take the required enlistment steps.
The other six members are also preparing to serve in the military, according to the statement the company described as management-related information that could influence investment decisions.
She added that the BTS members are looking forward to reuniting as a group again around 2025 after their separation.
